Foodpanda, a subsidiary of Germany-based multinational Delivery Hero, plans to open a new global R&D centre in Taiwan and hire 100 new employees. The company will hire for a range of roles including software and cloud technology engineers, app developers and senior managers. The new team in Taiwan will work closely with staff from the company’s existing locations in Singapore and Germany and will focus on creating innovative applications for customers in 20 countries across Asia and Europe.

The new R&D facility is the company’s second recent investment in Taiwan, following the May 2021 announcement of a new digital support centre in Taipei.

The company’s chief technology officer Benjamin Mann has cited the talented workforce as a reason for choosing Taiwan for a wider $22m investment plan, stating: “We not only want to invest in the growing talent pool in Taiwan, but also invest in the tech capabilities to support Foodpanda’s growth across the region.”

Foodpanda was established in 2012 and currently has 20 offices globally.
