By GlobalDataAccording to a press release issued by the company on Thursday, the total investment will create 750 new manufacturing jobs in 2024 and bolster support for critical infrastructure and industries. In addition, it will meet growing demand for data centre solutions across the US.
“The need for electrical infrastructure to support advanced computing and technological progress has never been greater,” said Aamir Paul, president of North America operations at Schneider Electric. “These investments will also support the implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act by strengthening domestic supply of products critical to boost America’s electrification transformation. They will also further position Schneider Electric as a driving force behind this country’s clean energy transition.”
News of Schneider’s latest investment round came after the French energy giant announced plans in September last year to open a new manufacturing plant in El Paso, Texas. Once completed, the investment will turn Schneider into one of the largest employers in El Paso, alongside Ford Bliss – a US military post – and GC Services.
The new plant in Mt Juliet is expected to begin manufacturing and shipping operations by mid-2024 and become fully operational in 2025.
Overall, Schneider has so far invested $440m across its manufacturing network in the US and employs more than 19,000 workers in the country.
