Telehouse International Corporation of Europe has broken ground on a new data centre in London, UK.

The data centre services provider will invest £275m ($366m) in the new facility, which is located at the company’s existing Docklands campus. Telehouse West Two is scheduled for completion in 2028. The location near London's financial district is intended to help accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.

The nine-story building will span 32,000sqm, including 11,292sqm of 'white space' for computing functions. It will be powered by two new 132kV substations and will support a total capacity of 33MW. A flexible design is aimed at meeting varied customer needs.

Telehouse West Two will operate on 100% renewable energy. The site promises high efficiency with low water and power usage. Additionally, it will support sustainability objectives with heat recovery potential and HVO-fuelled backup generators.

The new data center expands Telehouse’s presence in London, where it already operates five data centres. Kenkichi Honda, managing director of Telehouse Europe, called the new site an important step in the company’s plan to deliver sustainable digital infrastructure.

“This expansion will empower digital transformation for enterprise clients across multiple sectors,” he said. “It will enable them to benefit from emerging technologies, while supporting the need for energy efficiency and carbon neutrality.”
