Singapore-based Digital Edge has announced plans to invest $4.5bn to build a data centre campus in the GIIC Industrial Estate, Bekasi, Indonesia.

The planned facility, known as the CGK Campus, will offer 500MW of IT capacity once fully developed and has the potential to expand to 1GW.

The project is Digital Edge’s largest infrastructure investment to date.

The CGK Campus is intended to meet the needs of Indonesia’s growing digital economy by providing hyperscale and AI-ready data centre capabilities in Greater Jakarta.

The company aims to achieve an annualised Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25 at the site, utilising direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology, recycled water systems, and renewable energy sources.

Designed with a carrier-neutral approach, the campus will support efficient energy consumption and provide access to a diverse network ecosystem.

Its location places it approximately 15km away from other data centre hubs and about 40km from Digital Edge’s EDGE1 and EDGE2 facilities in central Jakarta, enabling low-latency connections for key business areas.

Digital Edge CEO John Freeman said: “The CGK Campus is a pivotal milestone in our APAC strategy and our largest infrastructure investment to date. This landmark investment will enable us to drive the next decade of innovation, cloud adoption, and digital services across Indonesia and the broader region.”

Construction of the CGK Campus will occur in several phases. The first phase consists of three buildings, with the initial building scheduled for service commencement in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The second and third buildings are set to follow in the first and second quarters of 2027, respectively.

The development aims to establish the CGK Campus as a significant part of Indonesia's digital infrastructure landscape.

Digital Edge’s fully owned Indonesian telecommunications subsidiary Indonet will provide the campus with fibre and network infrastructure.

Indonet CEO Andy Rigoli said: “Our new routes to the GIIC campus are built 100% underground, a design that significantly enhances reliability and resilience compared to traditional deployments.

“Combined with industry-leading equipment and advanced monitoring, this integration enables Digital Edge to deliver carrier-neutral solutions that meet the highest standards for hyperscale and enterprise customers.”
