The new site offers logistical benefits and access to a large pool of skilled labour due to its strategic proximity to the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. Furthermore, the new Kenosha plant complements the existing Schutz network, ensuring supply security and flexibility.
The new facility also offers potential for future expansion. Schutz has already announced plans for a new reconditioning facility for used industrial packaging. It will reportedly include an investment of $70m in plant equipment while also creating 56 additional jobs.
The project has garnered support from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. It announced a partnership with Schutz Container Systems to provide up to $1m in performance-based state tax credits. The amount is contingent on the amount of capital invested and the number of jobs created.
Frederik Wenzel, president and CEO of Schutz Container Systems, stated that the new facility strengthened the company’s commitment to the North American and especially the Midwest market.
