ZF Serbia, a subsidiary of Germany-based e-mobility solutions supplier ZF group, has announced plans to expand its operations and open a new factory at Pančevo industrial zone, Serbia.

The 16-hectare area situated in the Pancevo industrial zone currently accommodates both a research and development centre and a factory dedicated to the production of electric motors for hybrid vehicles.

The new facility, falling under the Electric Drive Systems Division of the ZF Group, will focus on the manufacturing of electronic hardware. The development and testing of these electronic components will be carried out at the company’s research and development center, located in Novi Sad. In addition, the facility, which will produce zero carbon dioxide emissions, will be the first of its kind in Serbia and is set to create 600 jobs in the region.

According to Milan Grujic, director of ZF Serbia, “The new CO2-neutral factory has an excellent thermal insulation and heat pumps with energy recovery that provide both heating and cooling. The factory also has solar panels for electricity generation and a wastewater treatment facility in order to significantly reduce the impact on the environment.”

ZF expects the proposed expansion to help reduce its carbon footprint, aligning with the targets outlined in The European Green Deal of 2019. This initiative aims for the European Union to achieve a minimum 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to the levels in 1990.

Headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, ZF is a multinational technology company supplying systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial applications. With a workforce of over 150,000 employees, the company operates in 32 countries.
