UK-based Zetta Genomics, a large-scale data management company for genomics, has opened its first international office in the Trinitat neighbourhood of Valencia, Spain. The new branch will accommodate the company’s software engineering team and help boost collaboration and innovation.

The office opening is in response to global demand for big data technology to support the growth of precision medicine. The precision medicine industry is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11.5% from 2022 to 2030.

Chief financial officer Bryony Burrows commented: “Valencia is a global hub of medtech and data science, and the hometown to many of our technical team, including our founder, Ignacio Medina. Led by him, our team here will play an important role in engineering improvements to our gene-optimised, highly automated data management platform, XetaBase.”

Zetta Genomics was founded in 2008 and is a technology spin-out of the University of Cambridge.
