Dutch provider of automated tyre building machines VMI Group has opened a new facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
VMI Group’s new site houses new engineering, service and research facilities. It also expands the group’s global engineering network and R&D capacity. The facility will enable it to cope with the growing demand for software, machine learning and AI-enabled automation solutions.
The new site will employ a reported 50 engineers by the end of 2024. The team will offer maintenance, upgrade, and related support services.
Harm Voortman, VMI’s chief executive officer said, “We at VMI are excited about the prospects for the Indian economy and the growing tyre market. This new facility combining service and engineering capabilities, forms a key part of our growth strategy.”
He added that the expansion “represents a new level of commitment to India, which now has one of the world’s largest and most dynamic economies and is a vital fast-growing market for automotive products and tyres.”
Last year in February 2023, VMI Group expanded its manufacturing site in Leszno, Poland.
