France-based Thales, a company that designs and builds electrical systems and provides services for the aerospace, defence, transportation and security markets, has announced an expansion in the UK that will create more than 1,000 new jobs in the country by the end of 2023. The jobs will be created in its research and development and industrial operations.

Thales‘ UK headquarters are located in Reading, a town a short commute away from capital London, but the company has operations throughout the country, employing more than 2,000 people across the North West and Yorkshire and Humber regions.

Thales has wider plans to hire more than 12,000 new employees to support its strong growth trajectory in its three core markets: aerospace, defence and security, and digital identity and security. The company has also announced plans for expansions in Australia (creating 600 jobs by the end of the year), India (creating 550 jobs) and the US (540 jobs).
