US-based Toast, a provider of cloud-based software and restaurant-grade hardware, has opened a new office in Dublin, Ireland. It plans to create 100 new jobs in software development, sales and customer support by the end of 2022. Toast has an existing product development centre in the city, which it opened in 2017.

Robert McGarry, senior vice-president of engineering for Toast and head of Toast Dublin, commented on the company’s second investment in Dublin, explaining: “Toast originally chose to invest in Ireland largely for its concentration of high-level technical capability, ]but] over the past several years we have come to reap so many more benefits from our strategic investment here – ease of collaboration with other Toast teams, Irish hospitality, and more.”

Toast was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company has additional locations in the UK, Canada and India. In February 2020, Toast successfully raised $400m led by Bessemer Venture Partners, TPG, Greenoaks Capital and Tiger Global Management. The funding brought the company’s valuation to $4.9bn and was used to invest in new products across hardware, software and financial services.
