According to the press statement posted on LinkedIn, the facility is positioned as a “K-Bio Bridge” between Asian research and development and the North American life sciences sector.
At the launch event, SK Biopharmaceuticals, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and the New Jersey/New York chapter of the Korean American Society in Biotech and Pharmaceuticals (KASBP) signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation.
LinX will host the K-Bio Global Innovation LinX programme, led by a bio-sector consortium under KOTRA.
Station C, a regional startup initiative run by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and Hallym University, has confirmed its involvement, with further South Korean institutions in discussions to join.
The consortium intends to offer US market entry support covering local settlement assistance, legal and patent consulting, and introductions to local investors.
KASBP’s New Jersey/New York chapter will also organise academic symposiums and seminars at the site to facilitate networking with local experts.
Lee Dong-hoon, president of SK Biopharmaceuticals, said LinX would support innovation and growth within the South Korean biotechnology ecosystem while advancing the company’s open innovation activities in collaboration with KOTRA and other partners.
“SK Life Sciences LinX is more than just a shared office; it is a hub for co-growth that drives the growth of promising Korean biotech companies so they can stand out on the global stage,” Dong-hoon he said.
“We will solidify a sustainable win-win ecosystem that organically combines innovative technologies and resources through multifaceted open innovation with promising domestic biotechs and creates tangible results together in the global market,” he added.
