Canada-based Magna International, a mobility technology company for the automotive industry, has opened a new manufacturing facility in Aleksinac, Serbia. The 8,300m2 facility will produce seat trim covers and leather kits for the European market.

The company employs approximately 780 staff at the plant and plans to expand to 1,000 employees by the end of 2022.

In a press release, president John Wyskiel commented: “Making this investment reflects the growth in demand for our seating products and positions us in close proximity to our customers. We’d like to thank the Serbian government for its support and collaboration in the planning of this site.”

The new facility is Magna’s second plant in Serbia and 36th overall in eastern Europe. The company’s global network includes 347 manufacturing operations and 87 product development, engineering and sales centres spanning 28 countries.
