US specialty-chemicals company Lubrizol has opened a new global capability centre (GCC) in the Indian city of Pune, Maharashtra.

The facility is intended to serve as a strategic hub to accelerate Lubrizol’s growth in the area and “enable closer collaboration for its customers and employees”.

Located in the Embassy Tech Zone of the Hinjewadi area of Pune, the centre will add more than 200 regional employees for Lubrizol, with capacity for up to 300 employees in the future. Focuses will include IT, engineering, supply chain, procurement, HR, finance and legal.

A customer experience zone is also being set up to showcase Lubrizol’s science and active plant installations. Elsewhere, the new centre has health rooms, a cafeteria with seating areas, a workout corner and lounges that emphasize natural light.

JT Jones, senior vice president for high growth regions at Lubrizol, said: “India is undeniably one of our fastest growing markets and a critical hub for the talent we require to propel global customer success and innovation.”

Bhavana Bindra, the company’s managing director for India, Middle East and Africa, added: “The GCC is an integrated extension of our global team. It serves as a regional and global centre providing business processing and digital capabilities that will help Lubrizol solve complex problems and find better business outcomes. Today is an exciting day for us as we look forward to the many possibilities the future holds.”
