Big-four professional services firm KPMG has launched a new EU AI Hub in Dublin, Ireland.

The facility is aimed at giving KPMG clients “access to world-leading tools and insights to navigate the complexities of AI implementation including the impending EU AI Act.” It provides an environment in which for clients to solve complex business, regulatory and technical challenges across the AI lifecycle.

Located at KPMG’s innovation hub at the Irish Financial Services Centre, the AI Hub is expected to see the creation of 200 jobs over the next three years in AI and related areas including risk, regulatory services and cyber security. KPMG established its innovation hub in Dublin in 2021 for assistance in navigating new and emerging technologies.

The AI Hub project is a collaboration between KPMG, tech giant Microsoft and AI security firm Cranium.

Sean Redmond, director of KPMG Ireland, said: “Understanding that responsible AI is not only a business challenge but also a regulatory and technical challenge, we are committed to helping clients put into practice end-to-end responsible AI programs. It is also important that organisations don’t see the impending EU AI Act as a blocker to innovation and ideation, but instead provides the guardrails that enable organizations to experiment with AI and deliver value to their businesses and customers.”

The announcement was made the same tims as IBM has revealed plans to hire 800 people over three years in Ireland to assist in the creation of new software products supported by its AI investment.
