Indian motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has opened a new product assembly facility in Nawalparasi, Nepal.
The facility, located at the CG industrial park, will initially focus on four new products: Xpulse 200 4V, Super Splendor, Splendor+ motorcycles and Xoom 110 scooter. The facility is expected to have an annual capacity of 75,000 units.
The new assembly unit is a partnership with CG Motors, Hero MotoCorp’s authorised distributor in the country. CG Motors will also rapidly expand its sales and service network across Nepal to cater to its growing customer base.
Hero Motocorp’s chief business officer, Sanjay Bhan, said: “This is an exciting development for us, CG Motors and for Nepal. The state-of-the-art assembly unit will ensure that our world-class products will now be made in Nepal and available to customers across the country. The rapid expansion of the sales and service network will enable us to entrench the market with our world-class products and services.”
Headquartered in New Delhi, Hero MotoCorp accounts for about 46% market share of the Indian two-wheeler industry. It has around 9000 employees globally.
