BAE Systems, a UK-based multinational arms and security company, has invested $150m (£132.07m) to open a new engineering and production facility in Austin, Texas, US. The opening forms part of a wider growth strategy that has seen the company invest in additional locations across the country, including in Manchester, New Hampshire; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Huntsville, Alabama.

The new plant covers 36,230m2 and is located at Parmer Austin Business Park. It will offer dedicated production space as well as engineering design, laboratory and office facilities. The new site is part of BAE Systems’ electronic systems sector and will create a host of new roles for system design engineers, procurement analysts, integration programmers and mechanics.

BAE Systems was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in London, UK. The company offers a full range of products and services to the armed forces, the UK Department of Defence, the intelligence community, federal civilian agencies and commercial customers.
