There are 16.1 million people employed in Uganda, with an unemployment rate of 3.2% – 531,072 people.


Uganda is the 223rd largest economy in the world with a GDP of $32.7bn. Uganda’s GDP has grown by 73% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 35% by 2025.

As of 2014 there were 165,396 students in tertiary education in Uganda, with 1.3 million students in secondary and 8.8 million in primary education. Uganda spent 2.4% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Uganda ranked 116th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 127th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Uganda finished 115th, after ranking 115th in 2018.
