Danish shipping and logistics giant A.P. Moller–Maersk (Maersk) has unveiled a new logistics facility in Olmos, Peru.

The new packing and cold chain centre, located in the Lambayeque region, will address the rising demand for fresh fruit exports in the country. Over 10,000 tons of produce will pass through the facility in its first year.

The 17,500sqm facility will provide comprehensive cold chain services for various fruits, managing the entire post-harvest process. It will offer field collection, processing, packaging, cold storage, and final dispatch to the port. Additionally, it will also provide cold storage for packaged produce, enhancing capacity for seasonal exports.

The new site, located near major plantations, boosts Maersk’s global end-to-end supply chain network. Furthermore, it will offer value-added services such as container depot operations, inland refrigerated transport, and customs handling.

Dean Rodin, managing director for the West Coast of South America at Maersk said, “Our decision was guided by the region’s exceptional export performance, its proximity to key plantations, and the clear need for integrated cold chain infrastructure to unlock its full potential.”

“By establishing operations in Olmos, we are empowering local producers to compete on a global scale with the speed and quality that today’s markets demand,” he added.
