
Lamb Weston Holdings, a US-based food processing company, has unveiled a new production facility in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Initially announced in September 2022, the $240m facility will address the growing needs for premium potato products in the Latin America market. The 40,000sqm plant will produce around 100,000 tons of potato products annually. Additionally, it will process over 100 varieties of frozen potato products.

The facility is now fully operational and has made its initial shipments to Brazil. About 80 per cent of the products will be exported to Brazil and other Latin American markets, leveraging the strategic location of the Mar del Plata port.
Lamb Weston has created 250 direct jobs at the facility, including administrative, technical, engineering, and operational positions. Additionally, the company estimates that the venture will further generate approximately 3,000 indirect jobs.
Mike Smith, president and CEO of Lamb Weston, expressed his excitement at reaching this ‘important company milestone’.
“The Mar del Plata plant will be a key strategic asset in meeting customers’ needs and expanding our business in Latin America,” he added.

“The site will inject additional income into the region, engage Argentine talent, and supply all of Latin America with our beloved french fries,” he added.
Lamb Weston Holdings is a leading supplier of frozen potato and sweet potato products to restaurants and retailers globally. It has over 10,000 employees globally. Last year, in November 2024, it opened a new production facility in Kruiningen, Netherlands.
