German cleaning equipment manufacturer Karcher has unveiled its new production facility in Curtea de Arges, Romania. It has made the investment through its local subsidiary, CER Cleaning Equipment.

Karcher’s new facility, dubbed CER 3, represents an investment of around $131m (€115m). It provides a production area of 15,000sqm, raising the company’s total Romanian footprint to over 60,000sqm.

Initially announced in 2024, the location marks Karcher’s third site in the region, supplementing its existing factories. It will focus on producing professional floor cleaning machines. The factory will also integrate the production of components, accessories, turbines and fleece filters for household vacuum cleaners.

The CER 3 site houses specialised laboratories for testing cleaning equipment and utilises roto-moulding technology to produce large plastic components. Additionally, it will support the local supply chain while also creating new employment opportunities.

Hartmut Jenner, CEO and chairman of the board, stated that the new CER 3 factory reinforces Karcher’s commitment to Romania.

“Through this expansion, we are strengthening our production competence for professional wet and dry vacuum cleaners and floor cleaning machines in Europe,” he added.
