Logistics giant DP World has opened its first warehouse facility in Singapore, marking a significant step in its regional expansion.
Located in the Mapletree Benoi Logistics Hub, the 13,000sqm bonded warehouse is positioned to take advantage of Singapore’s position as a trade nexus between China and Southeast Asia. DP World has recently opened similar facilities in South Korea’s Incheon and in Hong Kong.
Glen Hilton, CEO and managing director for DP World in Asia-Pacific (APAC), said: “Today’s news is another significant milestone for us in Singapore, following the setup of our regional APAC headquarters here in 2021. This new addition will better fortify our offerings across the entire spectrum of logistics services, backed by our network of ports and terminals in the region.
“With these new facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea complementing the existing network of assets we manage, we are now better positioned than ever to deliver agile, efficient and reliable logistics solutions. We will continue to invest strategically in key markets to give the best possible service to our customers.”
As part of its focus on the APAC region, DP World recently acquired Singapore-based Legend Global Logistics. It subsequently also acquired Savan Logistics and Cargo Services Far East and announced a $50m investment to develop a new logistics centre in Busan New Port.
