
The Indian subsidiary of Carl Zeiss, a German manufacturer of optical systems and optoelectronics, has announced plans to invest $272.4m (€247.6m) to build a new spectacle lens production facility in Bangalore, India. The new plant will be able to manufacture 260,000 lenses every day.
The company plans to create 600 new jobs through the facility, the construction of which is expected to be completed by October 2024.

Carl Zeiss was founded in 1846, and today is headquartered in the southern German town of Oberkochen. The company has more than 40,000 employees worldwide, and its main production sites are in Wetzlar and Göttingen in Germany, Dublin (California) and Minneapolis in the US, and Shanghai in China.
