French aerospace firm Airbus has officially opened a new office in Putrajaya, Malaysia, to expand its presence in Malaysia. This inauguration precedes the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025, where Airbus is set to be a prominent international exhibitor.
The newly established office, designed to accommodate approximately 170 staff members, will primarily be focused on providing customer services to regional airline operators, which includes flight hour services and component support for A330 and A350 widebody aircraft.
Anand Stanley, president of Airbus Asia-Pacific, described Malaysia as a key part of the company’s strategic approach in the region.
“[Malaysia] is our third-largest market in the region after China and India. What makes this partnership unique is the breadth of collaboration, from commercial fleet modernisation and defence cooperation to local industrial participation and skills development. Parts ‘Made in Malaysia’ are flying on nearly every Airbus commercial aircraft in production today,” Stanley said.
Currently, there are nearly 150 Airbus commercial aircraft in operation in Malaysia, with approximately 400 additional units on order.
The company has a significant industrial presence in Malaysia, including the Sepang Aircraft Engineering maintenance, repair, and overhaul centre, as well as a regional helicopter training hub in Subang.
