As of 2021, Denmark has a population of 5.9 million, making it the 113th largest country in the world by this measure. There are 49.8% males and 50.2% females.

There are 2.8 million people employed in Denmark, with an unemployment rate of 5.7% – 168,244 people.

Denmark is the 35th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $353.3bn. Denmark’s GDP has grown by 9% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 15% by 2025.

As of 2021 there are 317,676 students in tertiary education in Denmark, with 553,553 students in secondary and 476,746 in primary education. Denmark spent 9.1% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Denmark ranked forth in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished third. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Denmark finished tenth, after ranking tenth in 2018.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $31.1bn and private healthcare expenditure equalled $5.7bn in 2018.

The largest urban areas in Denmark are Copenhagen (2.1 million people), Aarhus (907,005) and Copenhagen City (809,924).
