Video game developer Riot Games, a subsidiary of Chinese tech multinational Tencent, has opened a new remote broadcast centre (RBC) in Dublin, Ireland. The company plans to create 120 new jobs at the 555m2 facility, bringing its Irish headcount to more than 280. The new roles will span broadcast engineering, production, control crew and event production.

The facility features six control rooms, allowing Riot to broadcast six live events simultaneously worldwide. The opening increases the company’s production capacity while reducing its operational costs.

As part of its €18.5m ($18.8m) Project Stryker initiative, Riot is opening three new RBCs for its esports events: one in Dublin, one in Seattle, US, and one in the Asia-Pacific region.

Allyson Gormley, manager of the new facility, commented: “Dublin is now at the forefront of a new frontier and the team will be part of an exciting new chapter in live broadcasting. Dublin is an ideal location to support this growth, with an exceptional talent pool, ease of doing business and key strategic position making it the perfect hub for the first of the Riot Games trio of RBCs.”

Founded in 2006, Riot Games is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, and employs 3,000 staff across 20 offices worldwide. The company established its Europe, Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dublin in 2010. It was acquired by Tencent in 2011.
