The initial phase will involve an investment of approximately Rs45bn and is scheduled to begin operating by 2028, followed by a second phase of Rs25bn.
The Andhra Pradesh government has set aside 250 acres for the development, and the site will produce air conditioners, washing machines, televisions, air purifiers, and kitchen appliances.
Haier projects that the project will create 6,000 direct jobs on site alongside 15,000 indirect jobs by 2032.
The scheme will establish a manufacturing footprint for Haier in South India, complementing its existing operations in Pune, Maharashtra, and Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The investment aligns with Haier India’s manufacturing expansion strategy as it works towards a revenue target of Rs220bn by 2028.
Satyavedu sits in the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore electronics manufacturing corridor in southern Andhra Pradesh.
The zone includes Sri City, an industrial park along the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border housing over 200 firms from nearly 30 countries, such as Foxconn, Panasonic, and Flex.
Other manufacturers with existing operations or planned investments in the region include Daikin, Blue Star, Havells, Amber, LG Electronics, Dixon, and TCL.
The location connects to a National Highway and provides access to the container ports of Chennai, Ennore, Kattupalli, and Krishnapatnam, alongside Chennai and Tirupati airports.
The move follows another planned investment in the country.
Earlier this month, South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Group announced plans to invest $15.5bn in India between 2026 and 2032.
The firm stated this investment aims to position the country as a “strategic core market for the group’s future growth, emerging market expansion, and next-generation automotive innovation.”
Hyundai Motor Group’s programme includes expanding production capacity, establishing research and development infrastructure, developing suppliers to boost domestic parts sourcing, and advancing future technology innovation.
