Finnish sporting equipment company, Amer Sports, has unveiled a new binding factory in Oradea, Romania. Amer Sports is part of Anta International Group Holdings, a Chinese holding company.

Following two decades of relying on outsourcing for their Alpine bindings, this investment signifies the revival of in-house production. Additionally, it boosts the competitiveness and global standing of its ‘Salomon’, ‘Atomic’, and ‘Armada’ brands in winter sports.

Initially announced in 2024, Amer Sports’ new site represents an investment of around $6.5m. Spanning 12,000sqm, the facility has been completed in less than a year. It is equipped with over 300 machines and has over 250 employees.

Stefan Leberbauer, senior vice president of winter sports operations at Amer Sports, stated that the new site is a significant milestone for the company. He remarked that it highlighted the company’s commitment to strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and building a solid foundation for the future.

“We remain focused on continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring we support our brands in delivering the best winter sports equipment to customers worldwide,” he added.

Amer Sports Corp operates manufacturing facilities in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Finland, Canada, and the US. It has over 13,000 employees globally. In 2024, it announced notable investments in Bulgaria and Canada. Furthermore, it is expanding its winter sports manufacturing footprint in Romania, establishing a new site in Deva.
