Investing in Gabon: what you need to know

As of 2021, Gabon has a population of 2.3 million, making it the 145th largest country in the world by this measure. There are 50.9% males and 49.1% females.

There are 605,924 people employed in Gabon, with an unemployment rate of 19.3% – 145,284 people.

Gabon is the 246th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $18.2bn. Gabon’s GDP has grown by 26% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 28% by 2025.

As of 2003 there were 10,076 students in tertiary education in Gabon, with 105,191 students in secondary and 317,946 in primary education. Gabon spent 2.6% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Gabon ranked 169th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 169th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Gabon finished 119th, after ranking 119th in 2016.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $366m and private healthcare expenditure equalled $173m in 2018.
